Marquette University Marketing Club Social Media Post

Project Type

Social Media Post for Marketing Club at Marquette University

Date

April 2023

Problem:
As an executive board member of the Marquette University Marketing Club (MUMC), one of my rotating responsibilities is to promote our upcoming meetings using Instagram to communicate to our members and boost awareness and attendance. For our February 20th meeting, we needed a graphic that clearly communicated the time, location, and agenda, while aligning with Marquette’s branding and standing out in a fast-scrolling feed. Many of our meetings include career-focused content, so it was important to reach as many students as possible who might benefit from the event.

Actions:
I used my Canva Premium account and past experience designing posters for basketball players and musicians to create a custom, on-brand graphic for this post. I made intentional design decisions to reflect Marquette’s visual identity—using the signature navy and gold color palette, bold typography, and visual icons that signal professionalism and urgency. The post includes essential event details: date, time, location (O’Brien 305), and a clear breakdown of the agenda: Career Fair Debrief, Internship Support, and Resume Workshop. These topics were chosen to resonate with marketing students preparing for internship season. Our board also coordinated the post rotation schedule using group chats and a shared content calendar, ensuring consistency across our Instagram presence.

Results:
The post received strong engagement, helped boost attendance at the meeting, and earned positive feedback from both board members and attendees. It demonstrated how thoughtful design and strategic communication can elevate a student org’s visibility to other students. This quick-turnaround project (created in a few hours) sharpened my ability to deliver compelling marketing assets under time pressure, while keeping visuals aligned with brand guidelines and audience needs.
